Episode .11
Roshi Joan Halifax | The Art of Practice
“I think imagination as a capacity is very important in our time. In other words, our ability to not adversely or negatively imagine a future, but to positively imagine a future and to move toward the future with uplifted energy to meet that vision.”
Episode .10
Ceci Tchakounte Tadfor | Recipes for Connection
“My grandmother used to tell me “so when you cook, you always make sure you cook plenty of food because you never know who’s going to show up”. So every time I would cook, there always was extra.”
Episode .09
Satori Murata | The Way of Tea
“We are making decisions every single day that makes our mind so busy. And these are monks who need to focus on their religion and taking care of their people. So their training was to free their mind, not thinking about what they’re going to do the next actions, so their mind can focus on what’s really important and think about their religion, their spirituality, their philosophy, and how they can contribute back to their community.”
Power of the Feminine
When we speak of "power", we are referring to a different and deeper definition of the term: one in which individuals are free and able to find their strength and sense of purpose, and to inspire others to do the same. Instead of a power that oppresses, limits and restrains individuals and communities, we dream of a power that helps us all rise to our fullest potential, while also serving our communal responsibility and interconnectedness with all life.
These pieces are told through feminine voices, and are intentionally slow, personal and honest. This series seeks to uplift and support the needed work and economy of women; to bring presence, imagination and engagement to conflict and discourse and restore a sense of belonging to ourselves, each other and the communities and lands we call home.
We are reweaving our relationships
-Maya Angelou"In this world there is no force equal to the strength of a woman determined to rise"
Our Story
Soul Friends
It is one of the sweetest gifts in life to meet people with whom we feel a sense of deep and profound belonging. For Genevieve Russell and Christine Grace Gonzales, both Libras and lovers of beauty, the bond of friendship was created early on when they first met as early film students. Over the span of 14 years, the two spoke of a desire to work together on a documentary project as well as create meaningful retreats based on presence and creativity. The dream remained, though their life paths criss-crossed often. All the while, the two supported one another in their own pursuits, in becoming mothers, in their comings and goings. The bond and the dream remained until they knew it was time to create the vision they both shared in a courageous moment of “yes”, one which they hoped would deeply inform the way they wanted to live. Genevieve and Christine share a deep interest in the power of the feminine to heal and nurture a more healed and beautiful world.
